It´s only with the heart that one can see rightly

Hello! I am 42 years old and have been living in Hamburg since 1992. We came here as war refugees from Bosnia. Our first stop was Ottensen. We never really left. We all still live in the Altona area today. Luckily, we found an accommodation in Altona with my grandparents, who had already lived there before. Altona took us in like their own Ottensen locals. We never, never, never experienced any kind of discrimination. The people were helpful and for me as a child, the children were open too. Despite the language barrier. We see Altona and Hamburg asour home and are grateful for the open hearts of the people who helped us integrate and who integrated us. I believe that it is very important to welcome the stranger with an open heart and then everything will go well. Because it is only with the heart that one can see rightly ;)! That’s my wish for Hamburg!
